The State of Minnesota requires that consumers be informed about Agency at the first substantive contact with an agent.
Often that first contact is at an open house. A licensed agent at an open house represents the seller.
Be careful to not discuss the price, terms or your motivation for buying a house with any agent who does not represent you. If you are represented, you will have a signed contract with an agent. If you do not have a signed contract then you are NOT yet represented by an agent.
If you do have a contract with an agent to represent you, then you should be discussing price, terms and motivation only with that agent.
If you would like to learn more about agency, please ask any licensed agent. They can provide you with a full disclosure about how agency works in Minnesota.
